TrainingRucksack Music owner, Amy Maguire, has a large amount of experience where music groups and music for children of a very tender age is concerned.Recently, Amy was asked to develop a training programme for the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green and these are some of the comments she received from the "Evaluation Sheets" that were filled out at the end of the afternoon session.
"Excellent"Rucksack Music would like to encourage and facilitate other organisations, nurseries (both council and private), playgroups and parent cooperatives AND individuals to run their own music sessions.
"Music is the "life-blood" of learning" says Amy. "It has been found to enrich a child's life immeasurably, enhancing every aspect of their learning and their awareness of the world around them. I just want to encourage and facilitate a better understanding, in adults, of why children need to be surrounded by music, supporting their learning, their development, their…. everything!" Amy Maguire and Cathy Walker have developed a training programme that will give a true understanding of what music can do for children and how one goes about organising and running music sessions in whatever setting is used. For organisations such as council or privately-run nurseries, playgroups, libraries and drop-ins - it is a cost effective way of training their "staff" to run music sessions that will enhance the children's lives immeasurably and for individuals it will give them the tools to set up and run their own music groups - whether on their own or as part of Rucksack Music (becoming a franchiser - see "Franchising page"). Amy is passionate about music for little ones! "I just feel that we, as facilitators, should NEVER underestimate the value of music…….it is such a joy to see children developing before my eyes and when I meet child #2 or #3 from the same family and how all the siblings have loved the sessions… it just makes me smile with pride. This, and the knowledge I have gained over the years, gives me the passion and drive to encourage others to enrich and surround all our children's lives with music. For more information on the courses we run; the services we provide and the equipment we supply: please contact Amy Maguire in the following ways:
On phone numbers: 020-8806-9335 or 07957 608151 Bookings are suspended at the moment - but please do call if you want to enquire about training sessions. With enough people we can book individual sessions. The sessions are based at Springfield Park Café, London, E5 and run for a day (9.30a.m - 3.45p.m). These include all the essential items needed to run music sessions, with on-going training and advice if needed. Rucksack Music will also come in and train "on-Site" with organisations, providing tailor-made sessions to suit your place of work - please call to discuss. Discounts are available for "group" bookings and advice on where you can access grants to pay for one-off training is also available. To have a music group come in to run your sessions is wonderful and Rucksack is expanding to be able to do this; but to be trained and to run your own sessions is more personal and much more cost-effective. Give us a call and find out more!
